RPS Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With The Launch Of, "From Where I Come!"

Dear Revere Community,

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, we join together to honor the vibrant cultures, rich histories, and enduring traditions that continue to shape and strengthen our community. Our special series, 'From Where We Come From,' is designed to celebrate the cultural connections and deeply personal stories that our students, families, and staff carry with them from their homelands. These narratives—woven with resilience, hope, and pride—remind us not only of our beginnings, but also of the strength and courage it takes to build new lives here in Revere.

For this year’s series, we are honored to highlight the journeys of three remarkable voices: Jose Marin Herrera, a junior at Revere High School; Claudia Correa, the mayor’s chief of staff; and Jose Aleman, a Spanish teacher at Revere High School. Their powerful stories remind us of the shared values—perseverance, community, and hope—that unite us all.

Through this series, we invite you to explore the rich tapestry of Hispanic cultures that thrive within our schools and across our city. Together, we will hear from students, educators, and community members as they share cherished family traditions passed down through generations, reflect on historic legacies of resilience, and recount remarkable journeys that brought them to Revere. Each story deepens our understanding and appreciation of the diverse identities that shape our city and inspire our future.

This month, and every day, we celebrate not only where we come from but also the shared dreams that guide us forward—dreams of opportunity, belonging, and a brighter future for all. We hope you will join us on this unforgettable storytelling journey as we honor our past, embrace our present, and look to the future with optimism.

With gratitude and best wishes for a joyful Hispanic Heritage Month,

Dr. Lourenço Garcia and the planning team: John Lynds, Paul Amato, and Bob Dunbar of Revere TV
